About

Dr. Rivi Sela is the co-founder and CEO of BetterFly Neurofeedback, an innovative cloud-based neurofeedback technology that allows clinicians to treat patients both in the clinic and at the patients’ homes. Rivi pioneered the neurofeedback field in Israel and has trained many neurofeedback clinicians. She founded the BrainGames-Israel clinics 17 years ago, and treated hundreds of patients suffering from ADHD, epilepsy, autism, anxiety and depression. Under her supervision, the BrainGames clinics have provided diagnostic evaluations, QEEG recordings and analyses and non-drug interventions to patients of all ages, both children and adults. Before embarking on her neurofeedback career, Rivi served many years as the Chief Technology Director of the Sheba Hospital, the largest medical center in Israel, and specialized in developing and implementing clinical technologies, including hardware and software components. In that framework, she collaborated with leading companies from around the world

Keynote Speaker at the 2025 ANSA Conference

Let's Talk About Alpha: The Brain's Idling & Control Rhythm

Anxiety disorders are among the most common reasons for referral to neurofeedback treatment, yet their neurophysiological profiles can vary widely. This presentation examines key QEEG patterns observed in individuals with anxiety, including excessively high beta activity, beta spindles, alpha asymmetry, low-voltage fast EEG, and hyper coherence in specific networks. Drawing on data from a large clinical sample, the talk will review typical EEG and QEEG findings associated with distinct anxiety subtypes. Common neurofeedback protocols will be presented, including down training of high beta frequencies, alpha/theta training, and slow alpha enhancement. Emphasis will be placed on the clinical reasoning behind protocol selection, the importance of reviewing raw EEG data, and the need to identify and exclude artifacts that may distort QEEG interpretation. Clinical case examples will illustrate real-world applications of these principles, showcasing both successful outcomes and treatment challenges. The session will conclude with a discussion of the essential role of clinician-driven analysis in guiding effective neurofeedback treatment for anxiety.
