Discovering & Creating Solutions, representing EEGer in Australasia

Dr Moshe Perl and the team at Discovering & Creating Solutions are here to assist with your professional neurofeedback needs. Come visit our stall at the ANSA conference in Canberra to hear about the new services that we are providing and to see the latest games available on the EEGer system.

EEG Education and Research (EEGer) produces high quality, user-friendly neurofeedback software, education services and professional clinical support for neurofeedback practitioners. We provide sales and Australia-based technical support for EEGer products as well as hardware and consumables.

In addition to representing EEGer, we offer a number of courses in neurofeedback and EEG from entry to advanced levels. These are taught by Dr Perl, who with over 15 years of teaching experience and 30 years of clinical experience, is considered to be one of the foremost neurofeedback educators in Australia.

See our website for upcoming courses, including our BCIA approved entry-level neurofeedback course which we will be running in the lead up to the conference.

Dr Perl is also a professional mentor to many in the field. In order to make his expertise more accessible, we are now providing online group supervision and web-based learning.

rTMS Workshop (2-days)
August 15 - August 16 with Dr. Martijn Arns
The technique of repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation has become increasingly sought-after as a sustainable and drug-free intervention for MDD and OCD. For more than fifteen years Dr. Arns has pioneered the application of EEG based personalised medicine and rTMS in combination with psychotherapy with a 55% remission rate in treatment resistant depression. Participants will become familiar with how to administer rTMS, receiving hands-on practice with TMS devices.

Neurofeedback Workshop (4-days) (BCIA Accredited – 36 hours)
August 18 - August 21 with Dr. Martijn Arns
Over the last decade Dr. Arns has pioneered the application of QEEG-informed Neurofeedback and is the most published researcher in this field, having demonstrated 75% efficacy in the treatment of ADHD and sleep problems. Participants will gain an understanding of how to validly apply neurofeedback in clinical and research settings. This workshop particularly focuses on the role of sleep hygiene in diagnosis and management of symptoms. Participants will receive dedicated hands-on training with various neurofeedback devices. This workshop is based on the international 36-hour didactic neurofeedback blueprint of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA).

SCP Neurofeedback Workshop (2- days)
November 11 - November 12 with Dr. Ute Strehl
The Slow Cortical Potentials Neurofeedback protocol is gaining increasing interest among practitioners in Australia after a recent multicentre trial confirmed its efficacy as a sustainable, drug-free therapy for ADHD in Children. This study was led by Dr. Strehl who has pioneered the application of the SCP protocol for more than 15 years. As a standardised protocol, the SCP approach is already widely applied in Europe in Psychology and Behavioural Therapy practices. Dr. Strehl will cover the neurophysiological foundations, learning theory and technical requirements of this application with participants gaining hands-on practice with the THERAPRAX® MOBILE device.

Course Instructors

Dr. Martijn Arns
Dr. Arns is a leading expert on neurofeedback and personalised medicine in ADHD and Depression. Over the last decade, he has pioneered the application of QEEG-informed neurofeedback and rTMS for these conditions and is the most published researcher in this area. Courses held by Dr. Arns are highly sought-after, with participants travelling from all over the world to attend his workshops, usually held in Nijmegen. Dr. Arns visits Australia in August 2017.

Dr. Ute Strehl
Dr. Strehl is Assistant Professor at the Institute for Medical Psychology and Behavioural Neurobiology, University of Tübingen, Germany. Ute is well-regarded as a pioneer of Slow Cortical Potentials neurofeedback with more than 70 publications in the field. Dr. Strehl lead a breakthrough study, recently published, which confirms the efficacy of (SCP) Neurofeedback as a scientifically valid intervention for ADHD. Neurofeedback researchers and practitioners, and other professionals interested in applied neuroscience, are cordially invited to the annual workshops and conference of the Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia to be held in Canberra, Australia, August 2017.

Biofeedback for the Mind and Body:

    Windows for Regulation

ANSA’s 2017 conference will include Keynote Addresses from outstanding international presenters including Dirk de Ridder, Jay Gunkelman, and Fred Shaffer.  The weekend conference program, on the 26th & 27th August, will be preceded by a 1-day Advanced QEEG workshop with Jay Gunkelman, Theresia Stoeckl, Dirk De Ridder on Friday 25th August and a 2-day Biofeedback workshop with Fred Shaffer will follow the conference on the 28th & 29th August 2017.

Whether in research laboratories, performance training or health centres, the advantage of self-regulation methodologies is finding the sun! Our bodies and minds are complex interactive systems that respond, adapt and grow in response to many kinds of information.  Being able to enter these feedback loops and guide aspects of ourselves towards greater achievement is both challenging and exciting.  This conference will focus on encouraging us to widen our aperture to perceive the advantage of integrating biofeedback techniques in our work.

    Jon Hegg, ANSA President 2015 - 2017

Hotel Kurrajong is our magnificent venue – an art déco masterpiece that, at the dawn of our nation, housed Canberra’s first parliamentarians and celebrated its 90th birthday this year. Hotel Kurrajong has been refurbished to its original grandeur, with modern specifications to ensure our conference delegates have access to professional work facilities and comfortable on-site accommodations.
